WSU Everett hosting spring commencement at Future of Flight
EVERETT, Wash. – Jan. 21, 2016 – WSU North Puget Sound at Everett has announced that the spring 2016 commencement ceremony will take place on May 15 at the Future of Flight in Mukilteo. Previously, WSU North Puget Sound at Everett graduates have traveled to Pullman to take part in commencement exercises.
“WSU North Puget Sound at Everett has built programs that help address the North Puget Sound region’s most pressing economic challenges as graduates compete in a global marketplace,” dean Paul Pitre said. “Local businesses, large and small, rely on an economic infrastructure of industrial, commercial and professional services. Those businesses need a talented, well-trained workforce to thrive and expand.”
About 50 students from the mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, hospitality business management and integrated strategic communication programs will graduate this spring.
The ceremony will take place in the Future of Flight Aviation Center, surrounded by aerospace exhibits, including the ‘Jet Fuel of the Future’ exhibit focused on WSU-led research into sustainable aviation biofuels.
Former WSU president Sam Smith (1985-2000) will serve as the keynote speaker, joining various staff and student speakers.
“This seemed like a dream just a few years ago,” said Pitre, who has issued 38 degrees as WSU North Puget Sound at Everett’s founding dean. “I’m thrilled that the number of graduates is only growing and that there are many more in the pipeline.”
