Discord Server Rules

*Server rules subject to change as needed. When changes are made, there will be a post on the “announcements” channel.

1. Nicknames

For moderation purposes, your nickname MUST be the same name you use in your school setting. Failure to comply may result in a ban.

2. Code of Conduct
  • Be respectful to your peers.
  • No harassment, bullying, slurs or aggressive behaviour.
  • There is a zero-tolerance policy for racist, sexist, homophobic, or otherwise prejudiced comments, including disrespectful remarks towards race/religion/political beliefs.
  • No trolling, baiting, discussions in ill faith, posting for shock value, etc.
  • No spamming (in-text or on voice call) or screaming at others in voice chat. If there is background noise, you must use push to talk. Deliberately disrupting study rooms will result in an immediate ban.
  • No explicit NSFW content. i.e., porn, gore, etc. This includes in-text, using a music bot, attachments/links sent, and profile pictures.
  • If you wish to submit content and you are not sure whether it is in violation of this rule, please feel free to PM anyone with the role of “Moderator,” and we can verify for you.
3. Academic Integrity
  • Keep academic integrity in mind. As the official Discord server of WSU Everett, we adhere to the Washington State University Academic Integrity Policy.
  • Although discussing assignment challenges or homework is encouraged (when permitted by the course), it is against the rules to send completed solutions of your work for others to copy.
  • If you choose to provide information on previously completed courses (e.g., in the situation of helping an incoming student prepare for a course), only provide your own notes. Do not provide plagiarized content, including any of the following:
    • Lecture slides or official course notes
    • Test or exam questions provided by instructors
    • Homework assignments or problem sets, or their solutions, provided by instructors
    • If you wish to submit content and you are not sure whether it is in violation of an academic integrity policy, please feel free to pm anyone with the role of “Moderator,” and we can verify for you.
4. Advertising
  • Any self-promotion will not be accepted, and is a bannable offence.
  • You are free to link any third-party academic resources, including recognized study groups, helpful websites and YouTube channels, provided they are consistent with WSU’s policies on academic integrity.
  • If you are representing a WSU-recognized academic group (including but not limited to other RSO’s) and would like to post an announcement pertaining to your group, please be certain that the announcement follows the rules of the server.
  • WSU Everett Discord moderators will have final say as to what is allowed to be posted.
  • If you are unsure whether something falls under what is allowed to be advertised, feel free to message one of the mods for approval.
5. Respect the moderators and rules
  • All moderator decisions and bans are final. There are no appeals, so please do read and follow the rules. If you find anyone is violating one of the rules, type @Moderator to alert our mods with a brief explanation of the rule being broken (e.g. X user is spamming), and we’ll address the situation. Alternatively, you may also PM anyone with the role of “Moderator” and describe the situation.
