WSU Everett engineering student share Mars Rover at state manufacturing summit

EVERETT, Wash. – Nov. 12, 2015 – WSU North Puget Sound at Everett engineering students shared their Mars Rover project with Association of Washington Business Manufacturing Summit attendees on Thursday in Seattle. The event highlighted the future of manufacturing in Washington state, including demonstrations from engineering students.

While the stage did not allow students to show off the full mobility of the Mars Rover, Mechanical Engineering senior Blaine Liukko was able to describe some of its functionality, “It’s assisting an astronaut, so we need to be able to pick up a wrench and hand it to the astronaut; we need to open a fuel tank and pour fuel into it; we need to be able to pick up 11 kilograms; we have to get up a half-meter vertical wall…” Watch more below and see more photos on the WSU North Puget Sound at Everett Twitter profile.
