Situational Awareness: “Maverick” in the Workplace

July 29, 2020 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Many factors impact productivity. It could be argued that sound decision-making is the most important factor. Understanding the situation in which decisions are made can improve productivity. Being situationally aware can also make you a better employee and teammate. Todd will describe his experience with situational awareness (SA) in the United States Navy and how the concept of SA can improve employee productivity and team skills in the workplace.

G. Todd Vanek

Todd is the Director of the Engineering and Technology Management (ETM) online master’s degree program. He oversees program operations and teaches management and leadership. He served in the United States Navy in the 90’s as an Air Intercept Controller (think “Top Gun”) and as a Total Quality Leadership Coordinator for a training and evaluation command. He has been involved in some form of education management for over 30 years. He earned his PhD in Educational Psychology at WSU in 2004.
