Biography
Rick Flores, hailing from San Ysidro, CA, is a dedicated advocate for student success and a proud first-generation college graduate. He earned his Master of Science in College Student Personnel Services from Arkansas State University in August 2021, following his Bachelor of Arts in Humanities from Washington State University Pullman in May 2019.
Currently, Rick serves as the MESA Program Director at Washington State University, Everett, where he develops and manages educational programs aimed at enhancing student development. His role involves collaborating with community leaders and educators to create impactful workshops and courses, ensuring alignment with the Washington MESA model.
Before this, Rick held significant positions at Skagit Valley College, including Director of Student Equity & Inclusion. In this capacity, he spearheaded initiatives like the Champions of Diversity Scholarship Program and managed culturally responsive events that celebrated diversity and inclusion. His leadership extended to organizing the Educational Justice Conference and creating workshops to support underrepresented student populations.
Rick’s commitment to equity in education has not gone unnoticed; he was honored with the 2024 Emerging Leader Award from the Washington Multicultural Student Services Directors Council and the 2024 NASPA Region V Community College Professional Award. Through his work, Rick continues to inspire and empower students, making a lasting impact in the field of higher education.
